About Us

Fáilte go Teach O’Hora, Main Street, Kiltimagh, Co. Mayo!

Teach O’Hora opens seven days a week from 10.30am and has an assorted selection of drinks available, although the pint of Guinness is definitely a favourite for many! Bar food is served from 10.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Saturday; please see our menu page for what’s on offer.

The interior of the bar was designed by John O’Hora, Marty’s brother, who was in St. Martin’s College of Art and Design in London at the time. He came up with a lot of the design ideas, sourced the contents from markets like the stained glass in the partitions, the lighting and the olde worlde memorabilia on display, but the life size cow behind the bar was a real find, made in the College from fiberglass! She has certainly been the talking point over the decades, people are fascinated by the sight of her and she is a unique piece to have behind the bar and has her photograph taken quite often! The phone box came from the side of the road in Belmullet. At the time they were being removed from the roadsides and villages and we thought it would be a nice addition to the pub. The phone worked in it for a number of years, now it is used by people on mobiles when taking or making calls for privacy!

The two snug areas offer privacy and a cosy feel with the open fire in winter. The top area of the bar has a sitting room-like space with fireplace, mantlepiece, couch and dimmed lighting. There is also an emigrants corner decked out with old suitcases; a reminder of all the people from the area who would have left home with their suitcase in search of a better life in another country and sent money home to help out their families.

There is a small off-licence to the side on James Street which opens at 10.30am and carries a selection of canned and bottles beers, spirits, and wines. Specialist drinks that are not in stock can be ordered and are usually available by the following week. Look out for weekly deals on offer while stocks last!

Live sports are shown on two TVs and we are loyal supporters of the local GAA and Soccer Club.

We are lucky enough to have a defibrillator on site which was kindly donated by a lovely thoughtful couple. Marty is a member of the First Responders and the Tourism Committee.

We host a variety of events and social activities throughout the weeks to give an opportunity to members of the community to come together in a social setting. Please check our events page for upcoming events.

All types of parties can be catered for, just make contact with Marty or Marie or via our Booking Enquiry page.
